{"id":1195,"date":"2024-04-02T05:27:16","date_gmt":"2024-04-02T05:27:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brownsvillenews.org\/healthjox-expands-brownsville-shines-with-exousia-throughout-the-year\/"},"modified":"2024-04-02T05:27:16","modified_gmt":"2024-04-02T05:27:16","slug":"healthjox-expands-brownsville-shines-with-exousia-throughout-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brownsvillenews.org\/?p=1195","title":{"rendered":"HEALTHJOX EXPANDS \u201cBROWNSVILLE SHINES\u201d WITH EXOUSIA THROUGHOUT THE YEAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Envisioned by <em><strong>Missionary Bishop &#8211; Dr. Lester Bradford<\/strong><\/em>, founder of <strong><em>Exousia Cathedral<\/em><\/strong> and spearheaded by President and <strong><em>Elder Elect \u2013 Lucia Bradford, \u201cBrownsville Shines\u201d<\/em><\/strong> serviced the community of Brownsville from its inception.\u00a0 Originally launched as a Christmas tree lighting event, Brownsville Shines was known by community members as the Christmas event.\u00a0 Attendees would enjoy a festive atmosphere consisting of Christmas caroling and thoughtful wishes, while enjoying refreshments that guaranteed warmth in the hearts of all participants. \u00a0In grand tradition, the peak of the event concluded with the actual lighting of the Christmas tree which erected directly in the front-center of the building. \u00a0With brightened eyes and gasps that can be heard from the elated hearts of the children and the young at heart; the colorful lights that glistened off the green pine leaves, invigorated the spirit of love, hope and happiness.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0Elder Elect\u00a0Lucia&#8217;s singing career reached new heights and her schedule became increasingly demanding with both international and domestic commitments, the opportunity arose for <strong><em>Teniesha Bradford<\/em><\/strong> to step into the role of President.\u00a0 In 2022, for the 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year anniversary of Brownsville Shines, <strong><em>HealthJox Foundation, Inc.<\/em> <\/strong>founder, <strong><em>Dewry DuRoi Bradford<\/em><\/strong>, partnered with Exousia Cathedral to produce the event.\u00a0 This action enabled attendees to access an expanded range of services. Through strategic partnerships, HealthJox Foundation was able to hand out some of the most coveted toys to Brownsville\u2019s youth\u00a0<i>after\u00a0<\/i>the tree lighting ceremony.\u00a0 Furthermore, they offered a diverse array of unconventional presents for adults seeking to alleviate their holiday expenses. These offerings encompassed household appliances, cleaning supplies, sneakers, slippers, clothing, coats, juices, hair care items, canned and dry goods, all provided at no cost.\u00a0 Furthermore, the initial 200 attendees who registered at the outset of the event were awarded complimentary phones and $10 tablets, along with a six-year service plan at no cost. Noteworthy was the presence of <em><strong>Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso<\/strong><\/em>, who delivered an inspiring address to the community, concluding with the iconic lyrics of Biggie Smalls:\u00a0<i>&#8220;Spread love, it&#8217;s the Brooklyn way.&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p>According to HealthJox Founder, Dewry DuRoi:\u00a0<i>\u201cLast year (2023), was our biggest service offering yet!\u00a0 On Saturday, December 16, 2023, through collaboration with\u00a0<\/i><b><i>Brooklyn Health Equity Foundation<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/i><b><i>Toys For Tots<\/i><\/b><i>, HealthJox Foundation and Exousia Cathedral was able to provide over 500-toys for the Youth as well as donate 200 toys to\u00a0<\/i><b><i>\u201cClothed With Love\u201d<\/i><\/b><i>\u00a0which is as organization founded by <strong>P<\/strong><\/i><strong><em>astor Denese Hall<\/em><\/strong><i> in Bushwick, Brooklyn.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_17464\" style=\"width: 970px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17464\" class=\"size-large wp-image-17464\" src=\"https:\/\/nycnewswire.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/BROWNSVILLE-SHINES-GOOD-GIVEAWAY-1024x791.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"742\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-17464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Multiple food giveaway events in the Community of Brownsville.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The remarkable strength of 2023 stemmed from our transformation of every food giveaway, organized by Exousia Cathedral\u2019s Home Missions department under the leadership of\u00a0<b><i>Pastor Constance Wright<\/i><\/b>, into a vibrant occasion featuring banners, a live DJ (<b><i>DJ Argyle<\/i><\/b>), and an engaging MC.
