HealthJox LLC<\/strong><\/em> is pleased to announce that Mayor Adams, Governor Hochul,<\/strong><\/em> and the Department of Youth and Community Development <\/em>(DYCD)<\/strong> has granted HealthJox LLC a portion of the announced $4.2 Million in State Grants to Support Youth Team Sports across all 5-boroughs.\u00a0 Dewry DuRoi Bradford<\/strong><\/em>, CEO of HealthJox LLC<\/em> launched his health & sports program – funded by the DYCD beginning July 1, 2024.\u00a0<\/em> After the highly anticipated 7th annual HealthJox Festival, <\/strong><\/em>the program will commence on Saturday, August 3, 2024,<\/em> at Philippa\u00a0Schuyler\u00a0Middle School<\/strong> <\/em>to provide youth ages 12-17 with team sports and mental health programming.<\/p>\n

Headed by Nathifa King<\/em><\/strong> – Program Supervisor and Mental Health Coach – Kayla Swindell,<\/strong><\/em> HealthJox will address the mental health – self-discovery<\/em> for all youth to begin their personal healing.\u00a0 The first 30-minutes will consist of breathing and workout exercises by personal trainer Temaine Pelzer, <\/em><\/strong>followed by 30-minute breakout mental health sessions with certified mental health coach, Kayla Swindell<\/strong>.<\/em>\u00a0 The next hour will focus on basketball<\/em> headed by Coach Lamont Kirton<\/em><\/strong> along with head coaches – Zak Solomon-Miller, Rodney Pierre;<\/em><\/strong> Assistant Coaches – Alisia Pierre<\/em><\/strong> and Rodney Pierre, Jr.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and AirOdart<\/em><\/strong> clinic hosted by Coach Ted Gustus<\/em><\/strong> and the AirOdart Coaches: Asani Kai KudoVault<\/em><\/strong> and Jackson Bartley.\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong>The final hour will allow for free games and skill application.\u00a0 HealthJox will run, 3on3 and 5on5, games so that attendees will learn how to apply their newly learned skills to the actual court.\u00a0 Content creation by Mykela Moore; <\/em><\/strong>Chief Financial Officer – Rhonda Brown-Moore; <\/em><\/strong>Assistant Program Director – Lorenzo Nicoleau<\/em><\/strong> will also be a part of the team<\/em>.<\/em><\/p>\n

According to Dewry DuRoi, “This is our opportunity to confront the issues that the Youth in our community are facing.\u00a0 Our kids have experienced violence at the hand of kids who look like them as well as abuse in the home.\u00a0 There’s a lot of communication and relationship issues that they are dealing with, and they lack the skills in knowing how to engage emotionlessly.\u00a0 When we teach our Youth that they themselves are a brand, and the need for them to protect their brand, then they will begin to think about their future and the kind of life they want to live.\u00a0 We will assist them in “self-discovery”, which will help them to discover their PURPOSE on this earth.\u00a0 Once we get them to that level, it’s only a matter of time that they will be on the proper trajectory in realizing a successful career and lifestyle is attainable.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

HealthJox LLC is a Minority Black-owned Enterprise Certified creative company focused on improving the health & wellness of NYC\u2019s underserved Youth through sports, the arts and life-changing wellness initiatives.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to help our Youth stay active and develop healthy habits while learning the importance of team-work and how to improve their own mental health.<\/p>\n

HealthJox LLC launches their health & sports program with Mayor Adams’ new sports grant.<\/p><\/div>\n

Program Schedule:<\/u><\/b><\/p>\n

HealthJox health & sports program will start with 30-minutes of \u201cself-discovery\u201d with our mental health coach.\u00a0\u00a0The next 30-minutes will be dedicated to stretching and workout with our trainer.\u00a0\u00a0The next hour, the kids will start with basketball clinics and AirOdart Clinics with our coaches, each separated by age group: 12\/13; 14\/15; 16\/17.\u00a0\u00a0During the final hour, we will have our Youth apply the skills that they’ve just learned during the official basketball games simultaneously.<\/p>\n

We will have fruit, water and healthy snacks for the kids as well as uniforms.<\/p>\n
