The DOE is delighted to announce the 3rd Annual New York City Public School Film Festival\u00a0<\/b>presented by NYC DOE and the Mayor\u2019s Office of Media and Entertainment!\u00a0The Festival will open for\u00a0submissions from NYC Dept. of Education students January 5 through March 16, 2021.<\/b>\u00a0Films will be selected for the Festival by a panel of educators and media professionals. Building on the immense success of last year\u2019s virtual screening \u2013 including over 15,000 views of the 2020 selected student films, highlighted in the\u00a02019-20 Annual Arts in Schools Report<\/a>\u00a0released yesterday \u2013 we are thrilled to screen the films virtually on May 6, 2021. And following the May 6thvirtual screening, student filmmakers will be invited to virtual discussions with industry professionals.<\/p>\n

Submitted films must be 5 minutes or less, and in .mp4 or .mov format. Films must use only original or public domain music. No nudity, profanity or violent acts are permitted. Youth filmmakers must\u00a0<\/b>play the major creative role on the production of the submitted works \u2014 as directors, writers, and\/or editors. Teacher directed, produced or generated works will not be considered. Submission categories are:<\/p>\n
