On March 15 Mayor De Blasio announced that New York City Public Schools would officially close until April 20, 2020, However, due to the increasing number of New Yorkers who have tested positive for the Coronavirus, students might be out of school for the remainder of the year.
“Right now, even though April 20 is our goal to reopen, I can’t see it,” de Blasio said on PIX11 Monday morning. “We’re going to make that judgement as we get closer, but at the trajectory we’re on now, I can’t see it.”
The city is working to get ipads to 300,000 students. De Blasio added “we’re going to keep getting more kids laptops and the technology they need, and the WiFi connection. It’s just going to have to be an ongoing thing.”
